Children of the forest

By one of Sweden’s best-loved fairy tale authors, Children of the Forest by Elsa Beskow tells the story of a group of children that live in the roots of an old pine tree. Set over the course of one year, this book shows us the different adventures to be had in nature in all the seasons. You might recognize the red and white spotted toadstool hats, or friendly woodland creatures. Embraced by the Waldorf/Steiner philosophy, Beskow’s illustrations are a heartwarming, imaginative take on how children might connect with nature all year round.
