Bat

We’ve gone batty! Because holy-batmobile, check out this glorious selection of vintage bat illustrations from the public domain. The majority of what we’ve found here is sourced from vintage scientific charts by Georges Cuvier, who was a major figure in natural history and is well known as the father of paleontology due to the connections he made between fossils and living animals. Clearly, Georges was also an accomplished illustrator, using art as a tool to communicate his discoveries and ideas over the course of his working life.

These scientific bat illustrations are skillfully executed by the artist, and the poses and their funny little faces remind me (with much glee) of some sort of strange family photo gallery wall in Dracula’s parent’s place. Say cheese! Cute, weird and wonderful, we hope you enjoy these as much as we do!
