For me, there is a certain magic and fascination around old books. Unlike now, where we can pick up a paperback for a few dollars at Kmart, books used to be a treasured possession, leafed through repeatedly as they became a centrepiece of a family home. So, when I come across a beautiful antique book I can’t help but wonder whose life was it a part of? Whose childhood did it shape, imagination did it stir? What wonderful old illustrations might be found within the pages? And the covers! Linen or leather and embossed with gold and pigment. So you can see why we just had to have a vintage book illustration gallery.
