Free Halloween Illustrations from the Public Domain

Fall has officially started, which means I’m officially excited for all things Halloween!

I thought I’d kick off the season with some free Halloween illustrations from the early 20th-century (plus one from the 19th-century!) These 13 illustrations were curated from the public domain collections of the New York State Library and Archive.org.

Pictured above is a vintage Halloween edition of Good Housekeeping, a Halloween cover for a 1908 magazine, and a pumpkin-shaped menu for a banquet in 1906. Magazine covers were curated from Archive.org, and the pumpkin menu is from the public domain collection at the New York State Library.

Pictured above are the oldest autumn illustrations in today’s post! These vintage autumn cards and pumpkin pie illustrations date between 1865 and 1899.
